The Oaks

Part of the Town of Pike Road endeavor. It takes its name from the double row of Oak trees which line the half-mile entrance drive. The center part of the structure was built circa 1830 by Alexander Carter, who expanded his small homestead into a plantation of 1780 acres. The house has benefitted from numerous additions and improvements over its 180 years, as it was owned and occupied by a succession of prominent Montgomerians, including William Nicrossi, Price McLemore, Tine Davis, and E T Davis. During WW II, this place was the site of the “Mt Meigs Auxiliary Field”, which served the Army Aviation Training Center at Gunter Field, and hundreds of American, British and French cadets perfected their touch-&-go maneuver on this ground. Today the Oaks is offered as a venue for office parties, meetings, wedding receptions and the like. More info here.
