on the corner of Norman Bridge and Carter Hill Roads, was completed recently. It anchors the SW corner of the ASU campus, and signals the conclusion of a political struggle that extended over a decade. For years Forensics was the underfunded stepchild of State government, and had to choose between the RSA and Alabama State as its big brother. RSA, a long-time political champion of Forensics, felt the agency would make a good fit for the existing medical laboratories left behind by St Margaret’s Hospital. ASU wanted it as a pawn in its campus expansion and grant machinery. One day early in this century, it fell my lot to tell Forensics it was time to choose. Guess who won.
