High above the City at 600 Montgomery Street was probably built with much pride about 1950. I actually worked there in a first floor office for a few months in 1954. Today it is a failed, abandoned blight which looms over our downtown. All its windows are broken out, no life is visible. It is one more example of real estate destroyed by the welfare state. I hear rumors it will be resurrected, and it would offer spectacular views to its occupants. But vandals have probably destroyed every vestige of it interior.
