positioned itself right in front of Montgomery Mall, at the tip of the triangle formed by McGehee Rd and the Boulevard. In 1973, after 50 years in furniture row on Commerce Street downtown, Charlie Parker and his partner, Borum Bishop, took the plunge and opened a branch outlet out on the SE edge of the city. Then the city up and changed directions on them, but the pair hung tough, and for another 40 years they and their offspring have offered the same class operation that they ran downtown. Oh, I know, Charlie was my wife’s uncle, but it’s still true.
