on Southern Boulevard, directly opposite Baptist Hospital South. The company was founded in 1946 by the Alabama Farmer’s Federation, which was started itself in 1921 to serve the political, social, insurance and agri-business needs of its members. ALFA primarily sells casualty insurance, but is also involved in real estate, construction, consumer lending and life insurance. Hurricane Opal almost sank the company in 1995. The promised commission to design the first unit of this complex on Southern Boulevard in 1955 was the impetus that launched yours truly and APH-Architects that year; the work never came, but there was no going back.

I have been a member with Alfa for over 40 years. I recently received a summary of my upcoming insurance cost for my home. After price checking I found Alfa was $400 higher than their close competitor. This competitor also offers more coverage than Alfa for less money. This is pathetic. I have already moved on to another company for my vehicle insurance and now happy to say GOOD BYE Alfa.
